Organisation Capacity Building

Strategy Outline

Community and voluntary organisations are often very fragile and lead hand-to-mouth existences.  Many are frequently in ad hoc or crisis mode, both in financial and capacity terms, with skills, systems and processes at the bare minimum required to operate.  In particular, governance, management, funding, human resources and contracting/fundraising capabilities are frequently minimal.  This is due in part to the lack of financial resources, the largely voluntary nature of many organisations, and the dearth of appropriate, effective and affordable providers of capacity-building services.

The Foundation can assist by funding its donee organisations to use proven providers to increase capacity in key areas (e.g. strategic planning, governance training and volunteer support) through medium to long-term projects, preferably in partnership with other funders.

All applications under this Strategy are made directly to the Foundation via online application.
