Community Enterprises (cooperatives, community-owned companies etc) can sometimes operate in circumstances where private enterprise or government cannot, e.g. marginal businesses, isolated areas and public services. They may also bring many social and employment advantages, as profits are re-invested in the community not taken for private gain. However they do face special challenges and must be based on a sound business plan and have solid community buy-in.
The Foundation may consider limited numbers of fixed-term applications to assist scoping and capacity-building for such businesses, subject to the above criteria and on a case-by-case basis.
All applications under this Strategy are made directly to the Foundation via online application.
