About Us

History, Philosophy and Aims

In 1995, Stephen and Margaret Tindall established The Tindall Foundation, driven by a desire to support initiatives in New Zealand which assist families and communities to help themselves and to heal problems rather than manage them.

The vision for The Tindall Foundation is to play a supportive role in the philanthropic sector in New Zealand.  We collaborate with others working in this field, as well as drawing on the knowledge, professionalism and expertise of the not-for-profit sector in the allocation of our donations.

Funding Focus Areas

The Tindall Foundation is contributing to a stronger New Zealand through the following Programme Areas:

  • Supporting Families and Social Services
  • Encouraging Enterprise and Employment
  • Caring for our Environment and Preserving Biodiversity
  • Strengthening the Third Sector
  • Promoting Generosity and Giving

For more detailed information on each Programme Area, check out our new Programme Areas section.

Please read the Foundation's Criteria and Priorities before applying for a donation.
